Secret Ballot (2001)

A film dealing with issues such as politics, society, the position of the women and the Arab citizens of Iran. The plot follows a female election agent who arrives at an island in western Iran to collect, with the help of a local soldier, the votes.

The Tale of the Three Lost Jewels (1995)

A Palestinian boy and a Romani girl discover love, make dreams and experiencin the difficulties of living in the occupied Gaza.

Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

Film based on the life of T. E. Lawrence and particularly his role, during the World War I, in organising an Arab guerrilla force which conducted numerous successful attacks against the Ottoman army.

Syriana (2005)

A film depicting the ugliness of the oil industry, also seen as a possible cause for the radicalization of the people of the region.

Three Kings (1999)

A group of US soldiers after the end of the first Gulf War enter Iraq to to steal gold that was stolen from Kuwait. In Iraq they face the war consequences on the population particularly on the Kurds and the Shiites who rebelled against Sadam Husein and were abandoned to their fate.

In This World (2002)

A pseudo-documentary that follows two Afghans as they leave their refugee camp in Pakistan heading to the West and a better life.

A Turkish drama film which tells the story of the six employees at the Diyarbakır office of Turkey’s first Kurdish language newspaper and the difficulties they face.

The Breath (2009)

The story of 40 soldiers in charge of protecting a relay station near the Iraqi border in south eastern Turkey. It is set within the context of the conflict between the Turkish army and PKK.

Bliss (2007)

A young woman from a small village in Turkey is believed to have been raped. Her village’s customs call for her to be killed to restore honour and dignity to her family and village.
